SMS are proud to be members of the Association for Character Education. As a new member of ACE, SMS are working closely with the Greater Manchester hub to earn our ACE School of Character Quality Mark. It is our aim to produce young adults who are academically successful, but more importantly, who are able to make good, moral, choices that lead to better lives, both for themselves and to the community as a whole.

We worked closely with staff, students, and parents to define our Six Virtues of SMS:
- Ambition
- Community Spirit
- Curiosity
- Honesty
- Resilience
- Respect
These virtues are displayed prominently around the school and underpin everything we do at SMS. Each half term we focus on a different Virtue, and students are able to earn certificates and prizes for embodying and exhibiting these characteristics on a daily basis.
